Ferme du Tilleul is a peaceful retreat situated in an area known as The Haut-Livradois which is within the Parc Naturel Régional Livradois-Forez.

The area is a beautiful combination of sub-alpine forests, meadows, farmland, and streams. This tranquil environment has an abundance of flora, fauna, and small lakes. The terrain reaches an altitude of approximately 1200m and has a wealth of footpaths and quiet roads.

The area offers numerous walks to suit all abilities, all with beautiful scenery. This is also a great environment for mountain bikers with several rental locations within close proximity. Bike-packers will enjoy completing the Tour du Livradois-Forez a 233 km mountain bike route.

In addition, the road network is ideal for cyclists and there is a good network of gravel roads for those who want a mix of terrain. The close town of Vernet-la-Varenne offers a newly installed children's play area, swimming and fishing. There are also numerous other opportunities to fish in the local lakes.

 

The area is a famous for its mushrooms and attracts  mushroom hunters especially in the autumn months.

The landscape and wildlife may also suit Artists and Photographers seeking inspiration in a peaceful setting. 

Ferme du Tilleul is close to a number of pretty villages such as Saint-Germain l’Herm, Fournols and Condat-lés-Montboissier. The local tourist office is located in Saint-Germain l’Herm and provides sale of fishing licenses, tickets to local events as well as information about the region.

Further afield there are the towns of Issoire, Ambert, La Chaisse-Dieu, Puy-en-Velay and Clermont Ferrand. Thiers, known as the French cutlery capital, is approximately a 1 hour drive north.

​

There is also the “Parc Naturel Regional des Volcans D’Auvergne” with the “Chaîne des Puys” dominated by the “Puy de Dôme”. There is the ski resort of Super Besse along with beautiful lakes, outdoor activities and the opportunity to relax in a spa.
